Yes this is another "Black women and their bodies" post. This is not however a Slim vs. Thick post. It's more focused on our health, denial of obesity problems and acceptance of our "overweightness".
I was at a wedding a couple months ago (actually I crashed the weddding while at a pool party for the kiddies). There was all ethnicities there from Indian, to Hispanic to Black to White. Something stood out at me while I was there watching all the tipsy women shake their groove thing. The Black women were all overweight...all except maybe one. The other ethnicities were mostly slim and trim.
Why are Black women so big anyway?
A lot of you contribute it to just being "thick in the hips". But there should be no reason why your hips and gut are the same size. Another portion of you just claim you are "curvy"...umm..that's not a curve, that is a roll. Just because it is round doesn't mean that you are a curvy woman. Having 20 "S" curves on your body probably means you are fat.
Okay so now that I have taken shots at the overweight women, let's discuss why we are the biggest, it seems, of all ethnicities and what we are going to do about it.
I have been saying for years it bothers me how much time Black women spend in salons and nail spas and at the threading stand in the mall but will not take a 20 minute walk on their lunch break.200 dollars on a weave but not on a personal trainer or nutritionist. It always amazes me that Black women care about their appearance, but the caring stops just above the shoulders. Why do you care what's put on your hair but not what's put in your body.
Of course as slaves, we ate the scraps given to us. We ate the crap the Master aint want. So we had to make do and those unhealthy recipies for down home southern cooking was passed down throughout the generations.
But now we have new info..THAT SHYT AINT GOOD FOR US. So instead of trying to get our bodies right and eat better and cut back on the back fat..we decide to try and force society into embracing our less than healthy bodies and proclaiming "Thick sexiness" and sitting our lazy butts back on the couch while chowing down on our 4th peice of popeyes chicken.
Again, this is not a hate post to women who are naturually "big boned" or "curvier" than the rest. And of course I know with age comes a slower metabolism and more weight gain. But...there is no reason we should be excusing ourselves to consistently eat a whole days worth of calories per meal and then run and say "Black men like women with a little meat on their bones" and "I'm just thick" and "Girl I was born with these hips", because I highly doubt you were born with Fried Chicken grease in your DNA, cause we all know that's what really gave you those big hips and thick thighs.
To you unhealthy size 16 women who write all these "We aren't all a size two posts". Please sit down and just accept that you are overweight and stop glorifying it. If you are heavier than your man (unless you just like your men boney) then you should be ashamed of yourself.
The hard truth is Black women love to eat. My girl was saying the other day how they were out of town and all the other girls wanted to do was "GO OUT TO EAT". They didn't dance at the club and they were anxious to leave to go eat out yet again. Are we using food for comfort or is it just habit for us to just eat till we burst?
If you are eating right on a regular basis and/or working out and you are still not a size 2-8, this post isn't directed at you. Ttrust, I know some of us are more inclined to gain weight than other women with faster a metobolism. So some of us are "skinny fat" and "healthy fat". My goal here is to get you to accept that most of you don't really have a handle on your health and that you were NOT born to look like a hippo. You have a problem with food and you need to practice healthier eating habits and take better care of your health.
Stop trying to justify your fatness. You are doing yourself, your mothers and your daughters a disservice by teaching them to accept their unhealthy frames.
What do you think is contributing to the obesity in the Black Female community? Please men what are your thoughts on how big Black women are compared to other cultures. What can we do as a community to improve our overall health and lifestyle?

Tonight..I got inspired by no one in particular *whistles*. It seems that in life, whether on twitter or offline, bammas swear they are SOMETHING! I mean, everyone is something to himself, in the eyes of God, whatever you prefer. But really, some of you think you are God's gift to humanity. Some of you think that because you accomplished a lil something something, you have free reign to brag and boast and brag some more and down talk people and demand stuff of people when you really aint that far from sitting on a corner begging for change like that bum you past by daily and chuckle at. Hell, the recession showed that to a lot of people who's sole purpose for living was to show how much money and power they got. They lost their jobs and couldn't handle living anymore.
Well lucky for you, I'm here to help check some of you bammas, cause seriously, some of you need to be CHECKED...big TIME.
Remember...it's okay to be confident in yourself and your skills and love yourself, but it's a bit ridiculous some of the reasons some of you think you are better than someone else...please PLEASE CHECK YOUR EGO IF
I know I missed plenty of people that need to check their raggely ass egos...please add more and help me out as you see fit. I swear..these super egotistical bammas that are seeking self importance and self worth are kiling me.
